Zhu Ye Qing translates as green bamboo leaf. It was named by a foreign minister, Chen Yi. He had gone to Emei Mountain and, while there, played chess and drank tea with an old monk in Wannian Temple. When he asked about the tea, the old monk told him the tea was the special product of Emei Mountain and asked Chen Yi to name it. The minister looked into the cup and saw clear water and green leaves. “It's really like the tender bamboo leaf. We can just call it zhu ye qing." The tea is noted for its name and its mellow, sweet taste. Our tea enjoys a sugarcane aroma and taste, much different from other green teas.
