Since the 12th century, matcha tea has been a part of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony called Chadao, or “Way of Tea.” It is made from green tea leaves that are carefully covered with straw mats a month prior to being picked. This ancient method allows the leaves to grow rich in amino acids and chlorophyll. Once picked, the leaves are dried and ground into a fine, bright green powder. Our premium quality matcha tea was harvested in Nishio, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, and is especially delicious. One sip reveals why it was chosen to be part of Japanese tradition.
